AzALAS High School Senior Scholarship Application – 2018

The Arizona Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (AzALAS) is providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The twenty (20) scholarships are $1000 each and available to students who will be attending a higher institution of post-secondary education during the 2018-2019 school year. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a graduating high school/charter school senior.
2. One parent must be of Hispanic heritage.
3. Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

The Arizona Hispanic School Administrators Association Scholarship Committee directs all decisions regarding scholarship awards. Applicants are evaluated on quantitative and qualitative criteria, including academic achievement, extracurricular activities and student essays. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Committee and are contingent upon high school graduation, as well as, acceptance to a higher institution of post-secondary education.

NOTE: Incomplete application packages will not be accepted.

Read and review this form in its entirety for all requirements. We recommend that you wait until you have all gathered all of the required documents and information to complete and submit the form.

For scholarship consideration, please complete all of the following:

1. Submission of all required elements of this form (below).
2. One letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher, coach, minister or other school official.
3. A typewritten essay (500 words or less). The essay must be written in the applicant’s own words and elaborate on the following:

How has your Latino heritage influenced your life’s goals, mission and desire to impact the world?

5. Submit a high school transcript (a scanned unofficial transcript).
6. Submit all documents by the deadline of April 6, 2018.

NOTE: Incomplete application packages will not be accepted.

Family members or relatives of AzALAS officers are not eligible.

The application window is now open; the due date for application is April 6, 2018.
The committee expects to award and notify scholarship recipients by April 20, 2018.
