Valley School Admin Scholarship $5,000 Awarded at the 2018 AZALAS Annual Conference

As the Latino population continues to grow in the United States, the need for more Latino school administrators is greater than ever. In 2012 Latino children became the largest ethnic group in K-12 public schools in Arizona. However in 2016 only 15% of Administrative positions were held by Latino School Leaders in K-12 public schools in Arizona. The Valley Schools Admin Scholarship is funded by a generous donation from Valley Schools Management Group. AZALAS recognizes Latino administrators for their leadership by providing assistance toward an advanced degree in education. The top recipient will receive a one-time $5,000 scholarship award. The scholarship will be made payable to the recipient and will be awarded at the Fall Annual Conference. The deadline for scholarship applications has passed. Scholarships will be awarded at the October annual conference.

AZALAS HS Scholarships 20 awarded at $1000 each

The Arizona Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (AzALAS) is providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The twenty (20) scholarships are $1000 each and available to students who will be attending a higher institution of post-secondary education during the 2018-2019 school year. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Be a graduating high school/charter school senior. 2. One parent must be of Hispanic heritage. 3. Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 The Arizona Hispanic School Administrators Association Scholarship Committee directs all decisions regarding scholarship awards. Applicants are evaluated on quantitative and qualitative criteria, including academic achievement, extracurricular activities and student essays. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Committee and are contingent upon high school graduation, as well as, acceptance to a higher institution of post-secondary education. NOTE: Incomplete application packages will not be accepted. The scholarship enrollment will be announced in early 2019.

The Ben Barcon Scholarship is funded by donations from various activities sponsored by AZALAS. AZALAS recognizes Latino administrators for their leadership by providing assistance toward an advanced degree in education. The top recipient will receive a one-time $5,000 scholarship award. The scholarship will be made payable to the recipient and will be awarded at the Fall Annual Conference. The deadline for scholarship applications has passed. Scholarships will be awarded at the October annual conference.

Alejandro Perez Scholarship Awarded at the 2018 AZALAS Annual Conference

As the Latino population continues to grow in the Unted States, the need for more Latino school administrators is greater than ever. In 2012 Latino children became the largest ethnic group in K-12 public schools in Arizona. However in 2016 only 15% of Administrative positions were held by Latino School Leaders in K-12 public schools in Arizona. AZALAS is offering a $10,000 scholarship this year, thanks to our partner, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., who is co-sponsoring the scholarship for the third consecutive year ($5,000 from the Annual Alejandro Perez Memorial Golf Tournament & $5,000 from McCarthy). The scholarship will be awarded at the Fall Annual Conference. The deadline for scholarship applications has passed. Scholarships will be awarded at the October annual conference.
