Title III Private School Survey for School Year 2021-2022

Greetings,

The Arizona Department of Education, Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS) is conducting an annual survey to determine Title III services used by private schools throughout the state. Please list the private schools within your district’s boundaries and the number of identified English learner (EL) students at each of the private schools for School Year 2021-2022. These counts will be used for Title III funding purposes.

Under Title IX, Part E, SEC. 9501, LEAs receiving Title III funds must provide equitable and effective educational services to English learners and educational personnel in private schools that are located in the geographic area served by the LEA. Services for eligible private school children and educational personnel may be provided by the LEA receiving the Title III funds or through third-party contracts. LEAs must ensure: timely and meaningful consultation with appropriate private school officials; services provided shall be secular, neutral, and nonideological, and; services are equitable in comparison to services/benefits for public school children and educational personnel. Expenditures for educational services and other benefits provided for eligible private school children, their teachers, and other educational personnel serving those children shall be equal to the expenditures for participating public school children. The LEA shall maintain control of funds and property for services provided to the private school.

If your LEA has no private school EL students to report (a count of zero), there is no need for you to submit this survey to OELAS.

Please complete and submit this survey information using the link below. Responses must be submitted to OELAS by June 30, 2022.
