We are excited to share information about a new principal mentoring program being launched in partnership with NAU. Please see below and the attached flyer for details:
Attached please find a flyer that you can share with potential mentees and mentors in your districts and with your networks. Essentially, the program will provide mentoring for principals in their first year of service across the state. In the program, we pair a new principal or mentee with an experienced mentor from another district. The mentor will visit the mentee in their schools at least twice during the year and also be available for phone calls and zoom meetings. Coaching training will be provided by experienced coaches. Additionally, mentees will complete online modules based upon what we know about successful principalship from NAESP, ASA, PSEL Standards, the Wallace pipeline, and research from the International Successful School Principalship Project (ISSPP). In addition to working with the online modules and on-site coaching, NAU faculty will meet with mentees and mentors during ASA and other state meetings.
The program is facilitated by Andy Gutierrez, Creighton principal and president of the elementary division of ASA, Robyn Conrad-Hansen, former principal from Gilbert, former president of NAESP, and faculty member at NAU, and Rose Ylimaki, former principal and curriculum director from Wisconsin, a lead researcher of the ISSPP, director of AZiLDR school development, and the Del and Jewell Lewis Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership at NAU. We are all former principals and committed to the development of the next generation of principals across Arizona.
The cost of the program is $1250 per mentee. To register a mentee, volunteer as a mentor, or attain additional information about the program, please email Rose Ylimaki at Rose.Ylimaki@nau.edu.
Best regards,
Rose Ylimaki, Robyn Conrad-Hansen, & Andy Gutierrez
