SY 22-23 Availability of School Meals

Greetings,

The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Health and Nutrition Services (HNS) would like to announce the availability of school meal programs as you dive into the 2022-2023 School Year. Meal programs offered during the school year can consist of the School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, Afterschool Care Snack Program, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program At-Risk Afterschool Meals.

These federally assisted meal programs provide Arizona students nutritionally balanced, low-cost, or free meals and snacks for children each school day. To receive benefits for these programs in participating schools, students must qualify for free or reduced-price meal benefits based on family size and income guidelines published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Students enrolled in assistance programs (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), etc.) automatically qualify for free school meal benefits in participating schools. Schools have begun collecting student eligibility for School Year 2022-2023. Inquiries on students' eligibility status for free or reduced-price meal benefits must be addressed by the school.

Additional information about Child Nutrition Programs can be found on the HNS website:
