Dear Colleagues,
The Arizona K12 Center and the Arizona Department of Education will be hosting the First Annual Induction Symposium on Friday, October 28 in Phoenix.
Now more than ever we need to find ways to retain our teachers. The 1st Annual Induction Symposium: The True Cost of Teacher Turnover will bring together Arizona district and school leaders to examine and act on the critical aspects of a successful induction program. Noted researcher Dr. Richard Ingersoll will deepen our understanding of the teacher shortage landscape nationally and in Arizona. Liam Goldrick with the Donovan Group and a person with deep knowledge around induction policy will be on hand to discuss this work at a state and national level. We will also have Dr. Emily Davis, author of Making Mentoring Work, on hand to deepen our thinking around this work. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to learn from school leaders with successful programs and hear their stories of impact. The day will close out with Juliana Urtubey, the 2021 National Teacher of the Year.
This is just the beginning of the conversation. The Arizona Department of Education will be hosting a series of follow up learning opportunities to advance this work locally. It is our hope that you will bring a team of school leaders…those who can help move this work forward at a systems level. This event will take place at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass located 5594 W Wild Horse Pass Blvd, Chandler. The cost is $100 per person and includes all materials, a continental breakfast, and a plated lunch. Attached is a flyer. The registration deadline is October 14.
