NEW! AZ 60 Action Plan to Meet the State's Achieve60AZ Goal

Posted Date: 02/06/2023

Education Forward Arizona Releases Achieve60AZ Shared Action Plan to Meet the State's Education Attainment Goal

Arizona has an ambitious goal: for more than 60% of Arizona residents to have a postsecondary certificate, license or degree by 2030.

Reaching the goal will unlock significant economic and individual prosperity with higher lifetime earnings for individuals, reduce social spending, and create a more vibrant state economy.

While some gains have been made since the goal was introduced in 2016, progress must be rapidly accelerated across all of P-20 education for the state to meet the goal by 2030.

Reaching the attainment goal isn’t just a postsecondary education issue. Preparation begins with our youngest students, in early childhood education, and builds as they progress through elementary, middle, and high school.

A year after the attainment goal was created, the Arizona Education Progress Meter was created to help measure progress and drive action across the P-20 continuum that leads to meeting the state’s attainment goal.

Now the question is:

What do we need to do as a state to reach the Achieve60AZ goal and the goals in the Arizona Education Progress Meter?

Education Forward Arizona brought together hundreds of education, business, and community leaders to find an answer. As a result, we created a shared action plan with concrete steps providing clear direction – from a nonpartisan perspective – regarding how we can improve student outcomes in Arizona.

The resulting AZ 60 Action Plan is meant to serve as a guide for policymakers, funders, educators, business and community leaders to jointly prioritize and advocate for essential changes that will move education forward.

We invite you to review the AZ 60 Action Plan today!
