School Safety Grants, Org Chart

Good afternoon ASA members.  I have fielded questions and concerns from district leaders about being able to keep counselors and social workers funded with school safety grants.  In a meeting with Supt. Horne and ADE staff this afternoon, I received assurances that recipients of the original $30 million grant to fund counselors and social workers (and some SRO's) would be honored and Supt. Horne supports renewal of those grants since this is year 3 of the 3 year grants.  He did note that ADE will favor SRO's with the other $60 million in safe schools grants ($50M from the 2022 budget and $10M in federal funding).  He offered 3 ideas for filling those positions, recognizing that law enforcement agencies have staff shortages.  He suggested that some departments will be able to staff through officers wanting overtime, through retired officers and through qualifed armed security staff.   ADE shared their new organizational chart.  Click HERE to access it.   Have a great superbowl weekend!
